ALPHA FAQ - TOP 10 QUESTIONS

When will the Arma 3 Alpha be available?
The Arma 3 Alpha runs from 5 March 2013 until the Beta becomes available (expected in Q2 2013).
How do I join the Arma 3 Alpha?
You can join the Arma 3 Alpha by purchasing the Arma 3 Alpha (€ 24,99), Arma 3 Digital Deluxe Edition (€ 39,99), or Arma 3 Supporter Edition (€ 69,99). All of these give access to the Alpha, the Beta and the final game. The differences between each edition are displayed here.
What are the system requirements for the Arma 3 Alpha?
Visit our system requirements overview for the minimal and recommended specifications.
What is Arma 3 Alpha Lite?
Arma 3 Alpha Lite is similar to the regular Arma 3 Alpha in terms of content. However, modding and multiplayer are not supported. People can access Arma 3 Alpha Lite for free, but will require an ‘invite’ to do so. These invites can be obtained via people who have purchased the regular Arma 3 Alpha. They will also be randomly dispersed via our social channels and selected media outlets.
Why are you releasing an Alpha of Arma 3?
Mainly we would like to cooperate with our community to improve the final game. There are things we will never be able to simulate or test internally. It also enables our community to start preparing their mods to be ported from Arma 2 to Arma 3, and start new mods. This means there will be more user-made content available at launch. Finally, we can be honest in saying we hope it will spread the word and reach more players.
Why is the game content in the Arma 3 Alpha limited?
Our approach to the Alpha is that we are Work-In-Progress, but we do want some control over its quality. We do not want to now provide content we know for sure is not working. Additionally, we hope that by providing content in batches, we can shift the focus of what is being tested and evaluated.
Where can I report errors or game bugs?
We have set up a dedicated Feedback Tracker where you can report errors and game bugs. Our forums are designed for reaching out to other players. Also, be sure to keep track of our Alpha Hub page for all the latest Alpha intel.
Is Steam required to play Arma 3?
Yes it is. Visit our developer blog to read our motivations behind this decision.
How do I know if the Arma 3 Alpha received a game update?
We will communicate large new updates on our social channels and on alpha.arma3.com. There will also be very frequent updates on Steam, which are automatically downloaded.
Does the Arma 3 Alpha represent final game quality?
No, all content in the Alpha is subject to further change and polish as we proceed towards release. Furthermore, the full game will have a lot more actual content in the form of a campaign, scenarios, multiplayer, weapons, vehicles and of course the full Altis environment. Arma 3 Alpha Lite does not support modding and scenarios made with the editor cannot be saved.
